We don’t say for nothing not to look at the phone behind the wheel.

Although we recommend that classic cars be used as they deserve instead of being kept in the garage, the other side of the coin is the various damages that can happen to these vehicles. Like what happened to this 1948 Jaguar XK120, which was avoided down to every detail until it had an unfortunate day…
Giuseppe Cerbone and his co-driver Nicolo Bottini Bongrani were doing a test drive for the Mille Miglia in their 1948 XK120 when they collided head-on with an Opel Insignia. According to the Austrian publication Kronen Zeitung, the driver of the Opel was on the phone before the accident and crossed into the oncoming lane due to distraction. The front right of the Opel collided with the front right of Jag, and both cars suffered significant damage.
In a video shared on Twitter that made me aware of this accident, we see the driver of XK blaming the Opel driver for looking at his phone. The 23-year-old also admits that she had an “urgent call” and looked at her phone for a short time.
Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident, but the driver and passenger of XK suffered minor injuries. As for Jag, we think he can return to the road, even if it costs a little (!) because the accident happened at low speed. A classic XK120 can cost you $100k (₺3.4 million) or more, depending on its condition and model year.
The only positive point for the owner is that the next Mille Miglia will not be held until June 2025, which gives him enough time to repair his car until the next race. Of course, if it can be repaired…
