It has been 140 years since the birth of the first Mercedes.
2026 marks a significant anniversary for Mercedes. Because the first car called Patent Motorwagen, developed by Karl Benz, was born exactly 140 years ago. This car, an invention that will change the world, is celebrated with the Mercedes GLC Special Edition 140, specially prepared for the anniversary of the brand’s Italian subsidiary.
Although the German manufacturer has unveiled the new GLC family, which will start deliveries in the second half of the year, this special version is based on the current GLC generation and celebrates a kind of farewell. Offered in Italy with plug-in hybrid diesel engine options, the GLC’s 140th anniversary package comes with a comprehensive and exclusive equipment list.
Fully equipped SUV
The Mercedes GLC Special Edition 140 is only available with diesel engine options. The 220 d 4Matic comes with 197 hp and the 300 d 4Matic PHEV with 333 hp. The 2.0-liter diesel engine is supported by an electric motor fed by a 31.2 kWh capacity battery and promises a range of 122 km in fully electric driving.

The equipment list includes 20-inch alloy wheels, AMG Line and Night exterior styling package, Digital Light, AMG Line interior (sports steering wheel, brushed stainless steel pedals, nappa-look dashboard), heated front seats, ambient lighting, fingerprint reader, wireless charging for smartphone, parking assistant and many other features. Purchasing these equipment as a package provides customers with a benefit of approximately €14,000.
Although it is not certain when the deliveries will take place, we can say that this special version, which Mercedes has reserved for the Italian market, will meet customers before the new GLC joins us.
